[atrb=border,0,true] humans
The Blank Canvas
Yes, humans, your standard run of the mill humans no different from me, you, or your grand-mama, and as expected these are the main occupants of the tourist attraction prison; Deadman Wonderland composing of both a many of the inmates, and jailers alike. After the great earthquake rocked Japan, and submerged nearly 70% of Tokyo underwater Deadman Wonderland is currently one of the largest 'corporations' in Japan having employed a great many of the former Tokyo residents whom lost both home, and job in the aftermath of the disaster.
These people range from the Owner/Director, the person who owns and supervises all the goings-on of the prison to the G-Ward Employees whose sole job is to provide food and items to the Deadman if and only if they have enough CP. Other jobs are the Director's assistants whom help the Director with his jobs as well as act as his full-time bodyguards. There is also the Promoter, who is tasked with obtaining those infected with a Branch of Sin by any means possible- he or she isn't above framing them for crimes they didn't commit; their secondary role is to set up the Carnival Corpse matches. If something should happen to the Director and his Assistants then the Promoter would become the head of the Deadman Wonderland. The last of the Staff are the supervisors of the attractions and stands of the amusement park half of the prison, while the prisoners work the actual attractions it is these people who make sure they do their jobs without harming the guests.
DW Guards are the one's siting nicely under the Staff Members of Deadman Wonderland; they vary in rank and position. There are three different sets of Guards that watch over DW, each of which is supervised by the Warden, who has several assistants directly beneath them. Your average guards are those in charge of watching over the all the prisoners and generally have no knowledge of G-Ward or the Deadman. Next are the guards of prisoners on Death Row, who are often in constant communication with the Chief Warden, sharing information regarding Death Row itself and its prisoners. Rarely seen are the G-Ward Guards who are first glance look like overly armed SWAT members. Typically you will only see these guards outside of the G-Ward when a Deadman is causing trouble. They routinely patrol the hallways of the G-Sector and keep a watchful eye over the Deadmen.
The medical unit is perhaps the only other group among the prison's staffers, besides the higher ups, that have any knowledge of Deadman Wonderland's true purpose. Unlike the Guards, there is but a single, yet expansive, medical unit that treats the customers, the staff, and the prisoners; though they do have different stations/wards found in various parts of DW. The medical unit composes of the general surgeons and doctors while they also are made up of the Carnival Corpse's Corpse Disposal Team; their job is solely to dispose of any corpse on the premises, though they are expected to preserve the bodies of any Deadman.

[atrb=border,0,true] deadmen
The Sinners of Hell
Deadmen; often described as living corpses. These people have been infected by some sort of disease living within red crystals found after the Great Tokyo Earthquake. What lives within these shards has come to be known as the Nameless Worm, which actually likely originated from the original Deadman: the Wretched Egg. This being has extraordinary abilities that allows him to control his own blood, making it into a cutting, whipping, or blunt tool. It can take on many forms and be used in many different ways.
The same thing goes for the Deadmen now found throughout the world. Deadman Wonderland searches people out with the ability to control their own blood and often frames them for crimes which they did not commit. Innocent or guilty, they are taken to DW and thrown into Sector G in which they fight often to the death in the Carnival Corpse.
Unlike the Wretched Egg, however, these people are limited to only one very unique ability which is rarely ever duplicated except in special circumstances, perhaps such as in twins. Even so, you will likely never find a matching set amongst these Deadmen.
Certain abilities will outlast others depending on how they are used; creating sword-like, whip-like, or body-covering armor-like weapons with blood may be reused more so than with attacks that leave the body such as a gun-like, mist-creating, or grenade-like weapon. With these the user has a limited amount of shots before their body will go into shock from loss of blood. The user's size will also determine the amount one is able to use, such as a 15-year-old child will have less available blood than a 20-year-old.
There are different levels to each ability, as well. One might call it an "ultimate form", but for most there is a powerful attack that they will learn about on their own which will exhaust them completely, but at least give them one last chance at beating their opponent.
Likewise, the more blood that is lost, the weaker the attacks become.
Being a Deadman, especially one caught up in Deadman Wonderland's awful schemes, is a very dangerous life. Those who are weak will die quickly. It is a dog-eat-dog world here, and you may very well take that statement literally. There are no surprised in Sector G when it comes to mad men.
both the chief director and the chief promoter also travel with one undertaker bodyguard and one deadman bodyguard, thus evening out their protective force.
Upon admission, Deadmen are given a nickname based on a type of bird. This nickname is used in their Carnival Corpse matches and the G-Ward staff may also refer to them with it.

[atrb=border,0,true] forgeries
Those who cast the first stone
A forgery: the act of reproducing something for a deceitful or fraudulent purpose. In this case, it is the recreation of the beings known as Deadmen. Forgeries are people whose abilities are extremely similar to those of a Deadman, but with one fatal difference: their blood contains toxins. These toxins work on normal people, Deadmen, and even other Forgeries. It is most often deadly, but in some rare cases, the people who have been created to be Forgeries evolve their own venom.
In almost all cases the blood attack looks the same: a snake-like creature that bites the victim, injecting the venom. This will cause the skin to boil, heating up the blood and swelling the skin until the unfortunate soul who is infected ends up bursting. It is a painful but usually fairly quick process.
With the cases in which Forgeries have evolved, many things can occur: the venom can be used to paralyze, induce sleep, enhance one's own abilities, or even cause hallucinations. The possibilities are endless, but few and far apart. These types of Forgeries are extremely rare and are typically seen only once out of three creations.
Forgeries are kept in check using specially-designed masks. These masks create an euphoric sensation for the body, causing the people to do anything just to feel it. Like a drug, it is addicting and can cause withdrawals in those who try to escape, though it is not typical for one to try to get away. Forgeries are practically force-fed this "drug" and quickly find themselves wanting more.
Evolved Forgeries usually have their masks placed inside their skulls to keep them from fully escaping. Bolts can be seen running down the sides of their faces where the mask is held in place.
All in all, Forgeries were created mainly to take down the Wretched Egg. Their venom is meant to poison this creature, but again... they are just forgeries of the real thing.
Corresponding with their branch of sin, upon creation, Forgeries are given a nickname based on a type of snake, while Evolved Forgeries' nicknames are based after spiders.

[atrb=border,0,true] undertakers
Escorts of the Damned
also known as the 'anti-deadman corps', this "elite" squad of individuals is comprised of the select few inmates who have survived DW's 'special correctional treatment'. these men and women are the worst of the worst: serial killers, rapists, kidnappers, and torturers make up their ranks. all on death-row, without the possibility of parole, they have little to live for other than to cause as much pain and suffering as they possibly can; essentially committing crimes even more unspeakable than what had them locked away in the first place. of course, a blind eye is turned so long as they fulfill their duties.
what duties could these vile excuses for human beings be tasked with, you ask? deadman control. you see, the undertakers are given the special job of maintaining the relative peace and civility of the g-ward; should the deadmen ever riot or attempt to escape from deadman wonderland, the undertakers will be there to stop them, and kill them if necessary.
each undertaker is given a weapon of their choosing; this weapon is then outfitted with what is known as the 'worm eater'. these devices instantly oxidizes the nameless worm that is behind each and every branch of sin, thus rendering them completely useless. combined with their ruthless fighting tactics, the undertakers are able to first disable a deadman's ability to utilize their branch of sin, and are then able to subdue them physically should he or she still attempt to fight against the anti-deadman corps.
despite being made up of criminals, each squad, made up of four lower-ranked members, is headed by a non-criminal: the four squad leaders are the adopted children of the chief director. they are not criminals themselves, but have been raised with the sole purpose of becoming powerful enough to defeat any rebellious deadman as well as control their squadrons; they are even more dangerous than the psychotic and violent prisoners in their squads.
both the chief director and the chief promoter also travel with one undertaker bodyguard and one deadman bodyguard, thus evening out their protective force.
